School is out, but the halls of Fairplains Elementary School are still filled with the sounds of children.
This is the 20th year for the Safetytown program, the only one of its kind in Wood County. It teaches children about issues such as bicycles, fire, bus, water and even pet safety, among other topics all in an effort to keep kids safe in everyday life, as well as during an emergency.
The director of Safetytown, Mary Ann Osborne says, "We want children to be able to know what to do and not stop and think about it in an emergency situation."
If you would like to get your children involved in this free program, you can sign them up by stopping by Fairplains Elementary at 8:45 a.m. or 12:45 a.m. June 15-16.
