The Ohio Association of Public School Employees, or OAPSE, says the Marietta City Schools Board of Education is considering outsourcing bus drivers and custodial staff to cut costs.

People were saying this is a trend that has happened in larger cities in Ohio but here staff members are afraid if this happens, they will be out of jobs.

Nearly one hundred employees, students, and parents lined the driveway of Marietta High School carrying placards in support of long-time employees.

The rally coincided with Monday's Board of Education meeting.

OAPSE has met four times with the BOE to discuss negotiations.

The next meeting is next Thursday.

School Board Superintendent Doug Baker declined to speak on camera-- saying they are in the middle of negotiations, so he cannot comment at this time.

I belive this would cause aproblem with familys who do not have the ability to get there children to school be cause of being poor or phisical resons but if they dont they go to jail, lets talk about taking the law away that says if your child does not go to school you go to jail this is itiautic to even suggest, after all dont we pay taxes for this to be provided to us we have to children hanicaped and ride a special ed bus i have had 7 haertatacks,my wife cant drive. we cant afford taxis or pay someone to take them but if they dont go we go to jail, were is the justis in that,if there is no bus provided then provide a grant to help people like us and others, dont make the kids and there family suffer because the Mayor needs more money to rebiuld his historical bridge, and other projects such as that I beilive this is what ist all about, saving money for the Mayors pet pieves.
