Are you helping a family member with a disability reach their full potential? There's an app for that!

The Washington County Board of Developmental Disabilities is co-hosting 'A Spectrum Of Apps For Those On The Autism Spectrum.' The lecture will focus on the resources available to those with a wide range of disabilities through modern technology like iPads, iPhones and tablets. It's technology that, experts say, is changing disability therapy as we know it.

"Technology is now available to everyone. At times, even 10 years ago, if I wanted to get a child a speech generating device, I could plan on spending to $8,000-$12,000 and maybe more," explains Ginger O'Connor, the Director of Early Childhood & Therapy with the Washington County Board of Developmental Disabilities. "Now, an app on an iPad that may cost $200 and an iPad costing $400 or $500... I can give that child the power of communication."

'A Spectrum Of Apps For Those On The Autism Spectrum' will be held March 1st, from 6:30pm to 8:00pm, at the Marietta College McDonough Leadership Center. For more information on the event call the Washington County Board of Developmental Disabilities at 740-373-3781.
