With the new Wood County Justice Center nearing completion, the county commission Thursday was advised on furnishings for the structure.

The commission approved a bid of more than $172,000, for furniture for the building which will house the sheriff's department, holding cneter and the magistrate court.

But its architect says those offices may bring some existing furniture along, when the move takes place in late November or December.

"The magistrate court purchased furniture within the last two years, so that will be all moved over, and we're going to supplement that with the new furniture," says Adam Krason of the architectural firm ZMM. "On the sheriff's side, we priced all new furnishings, and the commission decided to move forward with that, so we're going to meet with the sheriff, to see if there are some things he can save on, such as a conference table, and maybe some desks, to reduce the cost of that."

The commissioners also discussed demolition of the current magistrate court building-which, it's hoped, can take place before the end of the year.
