Harold E. “Sarge” Smith, 76, of Sandhill Road, Marietta, died at 10:30 am on Wednesday, May 07, 2008, at his home.
He was born on March 20, 1932, in Newport, Ohio, to William Henry Smith and Norma Matheny Smith. He had been employed at Pattin Manufacturing. Sarge was a member of Valley View Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling with the Marietta High School Marching Band, was a volunteer at Safety Town, enjoyed C. B. Radio “Hog Caller,” had coached girls softball and enjoyed playing the guitar.
On December 22, 1962, he married Carolyn Tidd who survives with 3 daughters; Wretha Lynch and Gary Morrison of Belpre, Ronda Smith and Mike Marlow of Little Hocking and Connie Smith of the home. Also surviving are 3 granddaughters; Alicia Smith, Amanda Lynch and Mallory Smith.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 9th, at 2:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Reverend Gale Lauderman officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park.
