Charles R. Smith, 87, of Parkersburg died Wednesday May 7, 2008 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born in Bridgeport, Conn. a son of the late John A. and Anna W. Lusebrink Smith. He grew up in New York City and graduated from Good Shepherd Catholic High School.He retired after over thirty-eight years at E.I. Dupont being one of the original employees at Washington Works, and was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. He was a United States Army Air Corps veteran having served in WW II. He was also a master craftsman and was always working on projects. He was very dedicated to his family.He is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law Tom and Mary Smith of Parkersburg and Anthony and Anne Smith of Vienna; five grandchildren John Smith of Alexandria, VA, Judy Wilson of Parkersburg, and Katherine, Elizabeth, and Brendan Smith all of Vienna; and four great grandchildren.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Edith C. Smith and brother Lynn Smith.Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday 10:00 AM at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Joseph Peterson as celebrant. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with military honors by Amercian Legion Post 15. Visitation will be Friday 4-8 PM at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with a Wake Service at 8:00 PM.Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.LeavittFuneralHome.com.
