Richard L. "Dick" Schmidt, 60, passed away in his sleep on May 9, 2008.He was born in Parkersburg on May 24, 1947 a son of the late Everett and Jennie Schmidt.
Dick Graduated from PHS in 1967 and joined the Army. He was stationed at Fort Polk until he was sent to Vietnam. For the last 27 years he has been employed by Selby General Hospital in the maintenance department. Dick loved horseback riding and spending time outdoors. He is going to be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Janice, their son Jason and his wife Tabitha all of Parkersburg, two brothers, Bill Schmidt of Parkersburg and Dave Schmidt of N.Carolina, three sisters, Grace Simms and Jane Bailes both of Parkersburg and JaniceLee Tackett of St. Clairsville, OH. several nieces, nephews and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four siblings- one sister Mary Willis, one brother Hartman Schmidt and a set of twins that died shortly after birth.
Services Monday 1PM at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor Wayne Brown officiating. Burial at Cairo Masonic Cemetery.Visitation Sunday 4-8 PM .There will be a reception for family and friends at the Waverly Volunteer Fire Department on Rt 2 North Monday approximately 4 PM after the graveside rites in Cairo.
