Vernon “Dale” Augenstein, 86, of Lowell Hill Road, Lowell, Ohio, died at 6:20 am on Monday, May 12, 2008, at Heartland of Marietta.
He was born on March 30, 1922, in Washington County, Ohio, a son of Phillip and Rosa Harman Augenstein. Dale had been a dairy farmer and drove a school bus for the Fort Frye School System.
On February 20, 1945, he married Jean Wunderlich who survives with 2 sons and 1 daughter: Ronald (Bonnie) Augenstein of Ashland, Ohio, Elden Augenstein of Lowell, Karen (Ray) Crum of Caldwell, 4 grandsons and 4 granddaughters, 3 great granddaughters and his sister Eloise Gerber of Marietta.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 great grandchild and 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Reverend Merle Farnsworth officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Lowell. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 on Tuesday afternoon with family present from 2 until 4 and from 6 until 8 on Tuesday.
