Thomas E. Johnson 74 and Elsie V. Laughery Johnson, 73, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away May 10, 2008 at their residence.
Thomas was born October 11, 1933 in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late William E. and Clydia Evans Johnson. He was the youngest of six children who preceded him in death, Jim and Bill Johnson, Dorothy Staats, Irene Miller, and Betty Smith. Elsie was born November 26, 1934 in Wood County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Raymond and Fonda Beall Laughery. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Springer and Ethel Brookover.
Thomas was retired after 35 years of service with Demuth Glass in Vienna, W.Va. and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and racing. Elsie was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, crafts, and loved her dogs Andy and Annie.
Surviving are their four children, Thomas E. Johnson II and wife, Ruth of Washington, W.Va., Gary W. Johnson and wife, Jill of Vienna, W.Va., Michael L. Johnson and wife, Barbara of Vienna, W.Va. ,and Sherry L. McDowell and husband, Mac of Eden, NC.; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Elsie is also survived by one sister, Ina Mae Benton and husband, Jack of Parkersburg, W.Va., and one brother, John Laughery and wife, Millie of Parkersburg, W.Va.
In addition to their parents and siblings, they were preceded in death by one daughter, Carol Johnson Summers.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va., with Pastor Randy Dornon officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
