Eugene B. Higgins, 91, of Parkersburg died Tuesday July 8, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Princeton, WV a son of the late Daniel P. and Mary Wright Higgins.
He retired from B.F. Goodrich in Marietta and was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Parkersburg. He was also a United States Army Veteran having served in WW II.
He is survived by his wife Wanda L. Higgins of Parkersburg; five sons Richard, Daniel, and David Higgins all of Elizabeth, WV, Stephen Higgins of Orlando, FL, and Blake Higgins of Tulsa, OK; two daughters Judith Reed of Elyria, OH, and Sandra Gray ofWilliamstown, WV; nine grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and two sisters Rhea Goodaker and Katherine Wandersee both of Florida.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Services will be Friday 10:00 AM at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Daniel Maricone officiating. Entombment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens with military honors by the West Virginia Honor Guard. Visitation will be Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1901 Park Avenue, Parkersburg, WV 26101. The family would like to thank the caring staff of Housecalls/Hospice who took such good care of Mr. Higgins, especially Mary.     What a kind, caring, fatherly man Gene was. It was my honor to have know him. He was like a DAD to me.
