Richard E. Canary, 66 of Parkersburg, passed away June 27, 2009 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born May 30 1943 in Fairmont, WV a son of the late Emerson E. Canary and June (Haught) Canary. Mr. Canary retired from A B Chance after 32 years. He was a member of the 1092nd Engineering Batallion for 23 years and retired as a Staff Sargeant (E7). He was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation and the Locust Run Hunt Club. Surviving is his wife of 46 years Karen (Rader) Canary, two daughters: Donnette Reed and her husband Austin Reed Jr. and Denise Jordan and her husband Bart of Fairbanks, AK, four grandsons: Thomas A. and Jason S. Reed and Taylor and Matthew Jordan, niece Michelle Wiggins Hooper and her husband Scott, three nephews: Christopher Rader, Todd VanMeter and Brian Denniwitz (Tina), great nephew Danny Hooper and two brothers-in-law: Bill Rader and Gary Wiggins. His extended family includes Stephanie (Michael) Waldron, Sandra (Kermit) Hale and daughter Mary, and Tina (Dan) Fitzwater and their children Emily and Reed. Funeral services will be Wednesday 3PM at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Gary Somerville and Pastor Chuck Furbee officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday 11-3. Memorial contributions may be made to Jake's Day through the Mid Ohio Valley Chapter of the NWTF c/o Otis Townsend 1780 Hope Hill Rd.
