Clarence E. Vincent, 86, of Coolville, Ohio, passed away June 28, 2009, at the Arcadia Nursing Facility. He was born Feb. 9, 1923, in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late A.A. and Lena McElfresh Vincent. Clarence was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he was awarded numerous citations, including the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with five Bronze Service Stars and Bronze Arrowhead; the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Service Stars; an American Theater Ribbon; a Good Conduct Metal and a World War II Victory Medal. He later worked at the American Viscose Co. for 24 years, retired after 13 years as a machinist-tool and die maker from Kardex at Reno, Ohio, and was an avid gardener. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ota Nell Galland Vincent; two sons, Joseph E. Vincent (Susan) of Grove City, Ohio, and James W. Vincent (Pamela) of Delphos, Ohio; four grandchildren, Aimee McGee (Sean), Douglas Vincent (Veronica), Abigayl Vincent and Mitchell Vincent (Pamela); three great-grandchildren, David Bradshaw, Derrick Vincent and Jaden Vincent; and one special niece-in-law, Betsy Todd of Baltimore, Md. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; and one sister. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 1. 2009 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor George Horner officiating. Burial will follow in the Torch Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
