Richard D. "RV" Taylor, 84, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away on June 28, 2009, at Eagle Pointe. He was born June 27, 1925, in Parkersburg, son of the late James E. and Mae Vickers Taylor. Richard was a graduate of Parkersburg High School, class of January 1943. He was a World War II veteran, having served with the 3164th Signal Service Battalion on Guam. He retired after 32 years with Union Carbide, Gulf Oil Co. and Chevron Chemical Co. He later became an amateur radio operator, call sign K8HYE. He is survived by two daughters, Diana Lynn Taylor of Pretoria, South Africa, and Cheryl Jo Schaetzle of Copley, Ohio; one son, Mark E. Taylor of Moncure, N.C.; one sister, Claradell Smith of Parkersburg, W.Va.; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife, JoAnn Marks Taylor; his third wife, Mary Jane Taylor; and three brothers, James R. Taylor, Robert E. Taylor and William E. Taylor. Memorial services will be 5:00 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Seventh Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Norman Butler officiating.
