Neil D. Schoen, 67 of Belpre, passed away October 27, 2009 at OSU Hospital in Columbus following an extended illness. He was born in Marietta, a son of the late Harry and Freda (Needs) Schoen. Neil retired from G. E. Plastics as a lab technician and had previously been employed by Chevron - Gulf Oil Co. He attended Ohio University and was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Parkersburg Elks and the Marietta American Legion Post 64. Surviving is his wife Anita (Lilya) Schoen, son Damien Schoen and his wife Tracy of Parkersburg, stepson Shawn Olcott and his wife Barb of Lewis Center, OH, stepdaughter Leanne Sturm and husband Doug of Mineral Wells, brother Jim Schoen and wife Peg of Myrtle Beach, SC, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter Natalie Schoen. Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday 10AM at Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Reverends Joseph Peterson and John McDonnell officiating. Interment will follow at the Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Marietta with full military honors provided by American Legion Post 64 and VFW Post 5108, both of Marietta. Visitation will be Friday 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with recitation of Rosary at 7:30PM.
