Freddie L. Drain, 73 of Washington, WV passed away November 13, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Fairmont, a son of the late Clarence Bates Drain and Geraldine Velvet Drain. Fred retired from Walker Machinery after 28 years service and was a house painter in the area for many years. Before moving to the Parkersburg area, he resided in the Shinnston area and worked in the coal mining industry. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Pleasantview Baptist Church. Surviving are three sons: Fred Drain Jr., Michael Drain and Brian Drain (Teresa), all of Washington, three daughters: Brenda Stanley of Belpre, Donna Lyon (Tom) of Parkersburg and Janet Jenkins (Tim) of Joetown, WV, two brothers: John and Butch Drain and sister Joyce Higgins all of the Shinnston area, 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his wife Gloria Jean Drain in 1997, son-in-law Clark Stanley, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be Monday 11AM at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor Ron Hendershot officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 2-5PM.
