William H. Hines, 86, died Thursday, November 19, 2009, at 3:50 P.M. in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg, WV. He was born in Ironton, OH, February 28, 1923, but spent almost all his life in Parkersburg. He was the son of the late Charles and Amelia Sindeldecker Hines. He graduated from Parkersburg High School and Ohio University with degrees in Architectural and Structurial Engineering. Bill served both in World War II and the Korean Conflict as a Naval Carrier Pilot and completed twelve years and nine days service time. He worked as a structural engineer for Rust Engineering Co. and Piehl & Miller Engineering Co. of Pittsburgh, PA, and Buffalo Crushed Stone Co. of Buffalo, NY. He retired from Tri-State Roofing and Steel Metal Co. in 1986 after 25 years as Vice President of Engineering. He had served as Past President of the Sheet Metal Workers Joint Apprenticeship Committee, Secretary of the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army, and Secretary of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church KoCo Board. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #172 A.F.& A.M. of Vienna, the Scottish Rite Bodies of Parkersburg, an Emeritus Trustee of Nemesis Shrine, Past Director and Treasurer of Parkersburg Court #156 Royal Order of Jesters and a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Bill is survived by a son William H. Hines, Jr. and wife Lynn, of Middletown, OH, , a daughter Jennifer Brown and husband Thomas of Pittsburgh, PA. There are three grandsons, William H. Hines III of Casa Grande, AZ, Benjamin Hines of Austin, TX, and Jason Smith of Bridgeport, PA. Two sisters Flora Titus of Brooksville, FL, and Violet Ginn of Middletown, OH. He was preceded in death by his wife Winifred and one grandson Christopher Smith. Bill will be cremated at his request and a memorial service will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, time and date to be announced later.
