I believe that our schools should not try to sugar coat the fact that the swine flu is here. They need to tell us the number of confirmed cases. I have spoken to my doctor and he has reassured me that the swine flu vaccine is no different from any vaccine out there, meaning it is no more dangerous that any other vaccine. So live in a ignorant bliss about it, but the truth is, swine flu is here, it was dangerous and the vaccine isn't.
I agree with smitty, sounds like anyone willing to be a lab rat or anyone allowing there children to be, should maybe reconsider,try to do some reserch on what is actually in the shot, before making any decisions! NO ONE KNOWS THE LONG TERM SIDE EFFECTS FROM THIS SHOT! My family will not have this shot!
no way that i or my child will get this dangerous shot. it is untested no matter what propaganda they try to peddal us. our gov is too secretive and needs to give us the real numbers of cases and of deaths. yes their has been deaths,
People instead of doubting this vaccine we should be grateful that the effort was made to get it out to us in a timely manner.
I feel That for the safety of everyone that Wood County Schools need to be honest and let the parents know the true amount of cases in the schools. Why hide it. We all know its there.
Mr. Wittberg and the media are using the mantra that this vaccine is safe because it's made like the seasonal flu vaccine. Yes that is true, for most vaccine. This flu is supposedly a combination of 3 strains of flu...does research already have the genetics and the epidemiology of this strain worked out? I don't think so. Smitty also makes some very good points. I will not have the vaccine and I have advised my children (one in college, one pregnant, one military) not to have the vaccine. Seasonal yes; H1N1 no.
Has it ever occured to anyone that this is all trumped up to help sell Obama's healthcare plan, I believe there is a problem with swine flu but is it really that bad? or are we we the public being scared into believing its so terrible .I am leary of taking this flu shot for the same reasons as Smitty, it has been railroaded through the process of approval just as congress and Obama is trying to railroad this healthcare bill. I dont trust anything the government has their fingers in.
There are teens and young adults with no underlying conditions dying from this flu. There are pregnant woment dying from this flu. Although it has not happened there is the possibility of this virus mutating into a form that might be resistant to this vaccine. Time is of the essence. I would not want to discourage anyone from getting vaccinated based on the information that the CDC is providing the public right now.
Wittberg gives the same tierd old speech everytime. It sure makes me feel safe with a clown like that as head of the health dept. Why not just save time and play old video of him telling people to wash their hands and sit around and wait. Heck, better yet, put me in charge of the health department so i can deliver the same message like a broken record.

MY Nephew was confirmed having swine flu today 5oo or more students have been absent from Jackson co. schools and deaths in putnam county with students absent sounds to me it is getting worse and all the cases that have been confimed are not being reported .
I have heard eight cases of swine flu are in Worthington Elementary School.
Perhaps Dick Wittberg should look into the reasons why people are weary of this particular vaccination by educating himself with the facts that have been widely publicized. First of all, most believe there has been a overreaction to the H1N1 virus similar to the way the 1976 swine flu pandemic had been. The vast majority of H1N1 cases that have evolved here in this Nation have been reported as mild and resulted in a full recovery without any need of any medical intervention. The National Regularity Agencies have set up a fast track approval process in order to get the H1N1 vaccine licensed without the normal safety regulations. What this means is that it’s a possibility that the risk factor from the use of unlicensed components used in the vaccine may be worse than the H1N1 influenza itself. It also is a way for the pharmaceutical companies to get past the normal procedures of licensing without having any liability. Are they safe? Not many citizens have that much trust they are.
