The Parkersburg Big Reds have passed their first test in their quest for a third straight West Virginia high school boys soccer championship.
The Big Reds shaded archrival Parkersburg South 1-0 in the Sectional Tournament finals at Stadium Field
Evan McGee scored the only goal of the game at the 22:33 mark in the second half.
Derik Craft curved a corner kick toward the goal and McGee sailed in with the header to break the scoring drought.
Both keepers had a great night in goal. Derik Ayers of the Patriots denied the Big Reds many shots on goal.
While Parkersburg's Brent McGee held the Patriots scoreless for the third time this season.
Parkersburg advances to a Regional Semifinal matchup against Huntington on Tuesday night.
