Amthony Reale is one step closer to defending his West Virginia Amateur golf Championship. Wednesday the Glenville golfer carded a 2 under par 70 to take a 1 shot lead over the field with 1 round to play.

Reale's 54 hole title is 5 under par 209. He has a 1 shot advantage over second round leader Tim Fisher. Fisher, from the Ripley area, shot an even par 72 today and is 4 under for the tournament.

Michael Veres is in third, 3 shots off the pace, while Justin Caroli is in 4th, another shot back.

Parkersburg golfer Ben Palmer had the best round of the day. Palmer fired a 4 under par 68 and he shoots up the leaderboard into 7th place at 3 over par .

The WV Amateur wraps up on Thursday.
