(AP) -- Cleveland Indians catcher Victor Martinez has been named to the American League All-Star team for the third time in his career.
Martinez is the Indians' only representative for the 80th All-Star game to be held on July 14 in St. Louis.
Martinez hopes he's out of his prolonged hitting slump by then. After grounding out as a pinch-hitter to end Sunday's 5-2 loss to Oakland, Martinez is in a 4-for-47 skid and has one hit in his last 26 at-bats.
The switch-hitter is batting .193 (28-for-145) since May 22, dropping his average from .400 to .303.
Martinez will back up Minnesota's Joe Mauer behind the plate. He hit a two-run homer in the 2007 All-Star Game and was hitless in one at-bat in the 2004 game.
