3 area athletes are going to college on athletic scholarships

We begin with a double dose of good news for Parkersburg South program

Shawn Brand and Sam Freshour both signed on the dotted line

Brand is going to to stay close to home at Ohio Valley University

Shawn is wrapping up a successful career at Parkersburg South.

In his senior season he batted .330 with 9 extra base hits and 23 rbis

His teammate Sam Freshour is also going to a West Virginia Conference school.

Sam has accepted a scholarship to play for Concord.

Sam was a double threat for the Patriots as a pitcher and position player

He could also help himself at the plate batting .309 with 24 hits and 21 runs scored..

Both players are looking forward to their opportunities on the collegiate level.
