Bruce joined the WTAP team on a cold and snowy morning in January 2002 as its News Director. Before coming to the mid-Ohio Valley, Bruce was News Director at WPGA-TV in Macon and WFXL-TV in Albany, Georgia.
Bruce is originally from the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. He majored in both Communications and French at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Following a brief stint as a McDonalds' biscuit maker, he began his broadcasting career in 1986 as a reporter in Roanoke, Virginia. He later moved to Johnson City, Tennessee. For the next five years, he anchored news, sports and weather in the mornings at WJHL-TV. In 1992, he gave up the anchor desk and got into management, serving as Executive Producer for the next six years in Johnson City and, later, at WVLT-TV in Knoxville.
Bruce has traveled extensively in this country and in western Europe. In his spare time, he likes scouring coffee houses for exceptional double espressos, writing, tinkering with computers and watching science fiction flicks. He attends First Presbyterian Church in Parkersburg.
