Abby Weppler became part of the WTAP News Team in July 2006 as a reporter by the name of Abby Kidder, but soon found out her passion was weather and her future husband lived just a few miles up the road!
Abby grew up in Akron, Ohio, with her parents and three older sisters, Amy, Andrea and Allison. She loves living in the Mid-Ohio Valley and meeting new people. In fact, Abby met her husband, Jason Weppler, in the Pioneer City just months after starting her new job!
When not watching The Weather Channel, you can find Abby hitting the books as she is currently obtaining her Meteorology Degree from Mississippi State. Prior to becoming a Bulldog, Abby graduated cum laude from Miami University of Ohio with a major in mass communication and a minor in political science. Go Redhawks!
During her college experience, Abby was a main anchor and reporter for Miami's weekly newscast, covering a variety of hard and soft news stories that mattered most to the Oxford community. She also had extensive internship experience at both WOIO-WUAB Action News in Cleveland and WCPO Channel 9 in Cincinnati.
Besides gaining valuable journalism experience at Miami, Abby was also a Miami University cheerleader, an active member of her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega and a campus tour guide.
In her spare time, Abby loves hanging out with her wonderful family, following politics, cheering on the Cleveland Indians and hanging out with her pug, Phillip.
You can catch Abby delivering your forecast bright and early weekday mornings from 5:30 am to 7:00 am on Daybreak, throughout The Today Show and again on WTAP News at Noon.
