Kirk Greenfield has been with WTAP TV for 15 years.

He has a BA and MA in Telecommunications from Michigan State University, plus a Broadcast Meteorology Certificate from Mississippi State University. He studied at Ohio University in Athens in the early 90s before the internet arrived.

For two years, he served as the Cooperative Observer for the National Weather Service in Athens county.

A married father of two, Kirk enjoys spending quality time with his kids at movies, reading science fiction and discussing Harry Potter and comic books with the family. He's also involved in home improvement and Habitat for Humanity. He rides a motorcycle to save gas and energy.

An avid sailor, Kirk's first interest in the weather was sparked by a purchase of a Dayton Sportsyak sailboat while in Junior High in Michigan, where he says "there's a lake every time you turn around!"

Prior to joining WTAP, Kirk worked in radio and had a successful career in Public Broadcasting, something he remembers fondly.

Kirk enjoys keeping the Mid-Ohio Valley informed of what to expect with the weather, especially when severe weather threatens.
