The contractor assigned to clean up the debris left over from the Sly Fox fire, Pete Wasmer with American Pride Contracting, said that after talking with officials from the Environmental Protection Agency in Charleston on Tuesday that a clean up date has been set to begin July 9th.

Wasmer said the reason it has taken so long is all the red tape that goes along with the incident and the possibility of asbestos in the area.

Signs for asbestos have been recently roped around the site and Wasmer said that is just a state code precaution.

"So we are treating the whole building as hot, which means that it could have asbestos in it, and we are treating it as such," said Wasmer.

American Pride Contracting is licensed for asbestos removal.
The removal should be completed by the end of July.

The city demolished the building after deeming it unsafe.
The Sly Fox fire happened April 25, 2009 and officials did rule it as arson. The fire is still being investigated at this time.
