Maybe this should be talked about at a City Counsel meeting, while sipping on coffee. Or is that too much to ask?

What about the people living in that neighborhood that are close to it and have been since the fire????? This article raises more questions than it answers.

Turner said the site will be cleaned and removed as if it did contain asbestos. "If it's found containing asbestos the material would have to be treated as asbestos and removed into a proper disposal site, "said Turner. What is this double talk are they treating it like it was or not and it is a public danger having the building owner test it if he want to. lol i guess it is easyer for the city talk circles than to admitt that they may have dusted half the downtown with asbestos dust. think about that the next time you run your vacume sweeper and stir all that up again and again as the filter bag will not stop it. glad i don't work down there.

If they had the same people as did the Elks had clean it up it would have been a one day job.

What about the day they demolished it, you telling me that there was no dust when it came down. Usually a demo. draws alot of people to watch. It shouldve been checked out before it was brought down. Another thing they are supposed to start July 9th, why is it going to take until the end of July to get it cleaned up? (According to WTAP) The Sly Fox building looked like crap before now it looks really bad we need to get this city cleaned up its begining to be a city of empty buildings, bars, strip clubs, and car lots. Its really very sad, this city could have alot of potential if the right people were in there and stepped up, instead of worrying about money. CLEAN IT UP!!!!!!

According to the epa website the Asbestos site should be covered up when a building with possible asbestos in order to deter the elements from getting into the air

Mike, I know what you are saying, the person walking down the street or driving buy is not going to get enough exposure IMO to hurt them, the people that clean up the debris will have to take precautions and probably will have to be certified to handle the waste and dispose of it. I would not want to be wading through the debris but casually passing by I personally would not be too concerned.

not a danger??? ok asbestos is in the dust of the site... so im guessing there isnt any wind in that area right???

When is this mess going to be cleaned up? Or will the owner wait for the people of P-burg to pay for the cleanup?
Posted by: Roper Location: Planet WV on Jul 1, 2009 at 07:25 PM

It wont be a danger. The people who will do the cleanup will know what do.The have so many regulations and procedures to follow when handling it. Any rain would be a plus , because when it is damp it is less likely to become airborne.,when it is kicked around and really stirred up while it is dry is when it becomes a danger.
