The investigation continues into a Monday night accident that left one Belmont woman dead and sent two others to the hospital.

The accident occurred on Route 2 about a mile north of Belmont around 11:00pm.

According to Pleasants Co. Sheriff Ted Maston a vehicle driven by 55-year-old Irene McVay of Belmont was heading towards St. Marys, went left of center and struck a vehicle driven by Naomi Lattea.

74-year-old Lattea, also of Belmont, died in the accident.

Her husband, 77-year-old Robert Lattea is recovering at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital and is listed in good condition.

And McVay is recovering in a Charleston hospital.

Her condition is not known at this time.

Wood County Coroner Mike St. Clair says 74 year old Naomi Lattea of Belmont died in Monday night's accident in Pleasants County.

A woman is dead and two others are injured after a two vehicle accident in Pleasants County.

It happened around 11 p.m. Monday on Route 2 between Belmont and St. Marys.

Pleasants County Sheriff's Sergeant Pete Templeton says the driver of a white car was traveling north and went left of center.

Sergeant Templeton says the driver of the white car then hit a silver car traveling south head on.

Authorities say both drivers had to be cut out of their cars.

Officials say the woman driving the silver car died in the accident.

Her husband and the other driver were taken to local hospitals.

Their conditions are unknown at this time.
