Wood County residents may be able to cast early vote ballots this year...in more locations than just downtown Parkersburg.

The county commission is considering a request by the county clerk...to establish "satellite voting" sites in Vienna, Williamstown, Lubeck and Mineral Wells.

That's to accommodate voters who live or work at those locations...and can't make it downtown.

"With the new community voting law, we can do a minimum of five days," says County Clerk Jamie Six. "And what we proposed is doing five days at these locations, they'll start on the Tuesday before the election, and through the Saturday before election."

Early voting began in West Virginia ten years ago. Now, a fifth of Wood County's voters cast ballots before election day.
