Murdoch Avenue is partially shutdown after a car slammed into a utility pole near 19th Street in Parkersburg. It happened around 4:30 a.m. on Thursday morning. First responders are still on scene.
The pole actually split from the impact. The air bag was activated and the driver has been sent to the hospital.
Parkersburg police and fire both responded.
Neither department could say what caused the accident. Right now the big concern is the low hanging wires that have the north bound side of the road closed.
Authorities say, it will remain that way for several hours. They are still waiting for the power company to arrive on scene. After that they'll have a better idea when they can reopen the road. Until then traffic is being diverted around 19th street.
