UPDATE: 1/24/12 5:05 PM

Gunshots have neighbors along one Parkersburg street asking some serious questions tonight. Questions about their safety. It may be difficult to find the shooter.

A homeowner along the 1000 block of Laird Avenue says at about 1:45 early Monday morning he heard six to seven gunshots.

A neighbor says when she heard the gun shots, she hit the kitchen floor.

Neither called the police at the time, but in the morning, the man saw bullet holes in his car.

Now they want to know why.

"If it becomes a random shooting, then we're gonna have a lot of problems connecting somebody. Unless of course we get somebody from the community that saw something or overheard something, and that happens a lot when they call us and get interested in what's going on and often we can solve some of these crimes," Parkersburg Police Sergeant, Greg Collins, says.

He adds, "we definitely have seen an increase in these types of calls. We believe that this particular instance is an isolated case and not related to anything else. But we're definitely seeing more of these types of issues in the community."

Anyone with information regarding this incident, please call the Parkersburg Police Department at 304-424-8444.
