The Wood County Commission Monday appointed two commissioners to oversee the preparation of ballots for the county's May primary.

County Clerk Jamie Six says one of the commissioners, by law, is a Democrat while the other is a Republican.

It's one of several duties the clerk's office will have in the coming months.

"We'll work with the executive committees in getting the poll workers in place," Six says. "We'll be discussing next Thursday the possibility of having satellite early voting precincts. Based on that decision, we'll decide how many poll workers the committee will have to submit based on that."

The filing deadline for the primary is this Saturday, January 28.

Although, filings by mail will be accepted after that as long as they're postmarked by the 28th.
