After a week of very warm temperatures heating up the Mid-Ohio valley, a storm system is expected to roll up the Ohio River valley at week's end.
This storm is likely to bring heavy rain and downpours that will wash almost all of the pollen out of the atmosphere temporarily.
All this week, seasonal allergies have been plaguing people with pollen issues, and the break will be welcome relief. It's an annual problem that some people dread, but others sail through without trouble.
One of the natural remedies is a good rainy day.
The low pressure center is expected to track just to the south of the Parkersburg-Marietta area, producing heavy downpours and thunderstorms.
However, storms are not currently expected to become severe north of the Charleston area.
As the storm passes, pollen levels are likely to rebound, and with them, are the possibility of the arrival of Brood XIV cicada. The hatch out will occur as the average ground temperature reaches 65 degrees, which happens this week.
Brood XIV, which hatches out once every 17 years, is concentrated around Kentucky, with some infestation north from Charleston into the MOV as well.
