It wasn't much to look at, but some thought they could see UFOs, (Unidentified Flying Objects) in the skies over Parkersburg Thursday evening.
About 9 o'clock, calls were placed to WTAP reporting what appeared to be several bright lights in the eastern skies.
Initial reports were assumed to be the two bright "stars" in the southern sky... quickly identified as Jupiter and Venus.
But the teen callers denied this. They indicated the lights were twinkling and flashing, but not moving. The lights were high off the horizon line...at least as it could be viewed from 46th street.
Though a half moon was present, the sighting was said to be in the opposite end of the sky.
There were no additional reports as the two planets set in the SW sky.
The two planets, Venus & Jupiter, are unusually bright and visible due to high pressure, clear skies, and a lack of obscuring leaves and clouds.
Both should be visible after sunset in the southern sky from anywhere in the USA.
