This 14-year-old enjoys sledding, playing video games and checkers. He's currently in foster care and he really wants to be part of a forever family. Meet Jeremy, this month's Wednesday's Child.

On a sunny February day, Jeremy brings light with him wherever he goes.

"Was it kind of nice being out of school today?" I asked.
Jeremy said "Yeah."

I met Jeremy at North Bend State Park Friday where this bright-eyed ninth grader hardly missed catching a Frisbee toss and played an intense game of checkers. The silence was palpable.

It's fitting one of his favorite subjects is math, along with physical education and English but he's a teen of many talents. He can even play the flute!

"I used to cook when I was little. I think the first thing I made was cookies. So I like cooking a lot."

At only 14, he has already been practicing to become a chef some day.

His specialty is shrimp fettuccine Alfredo but that's not all folks.

"I can make tacos pretty good."

"Do you eat the food as you go?" I asked.
"Sometimes," he smiled and said.

But something is missing in Jeremy's life- a forever family.

"I don't know I'd like to be able to interact a lot and be where I can sit down and talk sometimes," he said.

"I think it would be pretty fun to have a brother and sister, brother or sister, and a mom and dad, it'd be pretty cool."

A simple wish, from a teen who's wiser beyond his years.
