Black Friday shopping protocol at Grand Central Mall
VIENNA, W.Va. (WTAP) - With everything involving COVID-19 restrictions many big events continue to change, including Black Friday.
Grand Central Mall is following specific guidelines given to them by the state that they want their customers to follow.
Everyone in the mall must wear a face covering, practice social distancing and stay away from large gatherings.
And stores will have to follow occupancy rates based on their specific square footage.
As much as this will be a different Black Friday experience, officials at the mall say that they don’t expect any negative effect for shopping.
“We know that this holiday season is going to be different from all the others,” says Grand Central Mall general manager, Jody Hopkins. “The International Council of Shopping Centers did a survey just a couple months ago and 81 percent of people still plan to visit a physical store to buy a gift this year. And, 39 percent of them said that they’re going to spend more than they did in 2019. So while the holiday is going to look a little bit different, it’s still going to be a good one.”
The mall will also be featuring a mall Santa on Black Friday starting at 11 a.m.
Those in charge at the mall say that Santa has been quarantining with the elves and is health to work.
Children will still need to be six feet away from Santa and wear a face covering as well.
