Obituary: Ernest “OB” Dale Jones

Ernest “OB” Dale Jones, 72, of Parkersburg, WV, departed this life Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Camden Clark Medical Center, in Parkersburg, WV.

OB was born January 2, 1949 in New Milton, WV, a son of the late Shirley Oliver and Nellie (Perrine) Jones. OB graduated from Doddridge County High School. He was a United States Navy and Marine Veteran, and he served as a medic in the Vietnam War. OB retired as a well tender after 35 years, from Eastern American Energy. He was an avid poker player and loved playing pool. OB was known for his famous hill climbing and racing, whether it be on a four-wheeler or motorcycle. He later in life picked up dancing, in which everyone would call him “Waylon Jennings” when he entered the room. OB enjoyed spending time with his family, and his number one thing in life was his devoted wife, Edna, who he treated like an angel.

OB is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Edna (Cogar) Jones; children, Crystal R. Fullmer (Roland) of Pennsboro, WV, and Ernest D. Jones Jr. (Shonna) of Parkersburg, WV; grandchildren, Dominic Cass, Abigal Jewell (Randall), Corrinna Gogan (Logan), Ernest “Trey” Jones III, and Alex Phillips; great grandchild, Brysen, who is on the way; sisters, Shirley Hogue of Pennsboro, WV, Nancy Nuzum of Conaway Lake, WV, and Judy Marshall of Clarksburg, WV; parent in-laws, Carol G. and Carol J. Cogar, and Carolyn and Duane Uhle; brother in-law, Carol Cogar Jr.; sister in-laws, Mary Guiles, and Edith Rhodes.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister in-law, Julie Russell.

Visitation will be held from 4-8pm, Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home in Pennsboro, WV. In accordance with the CDC guidelines, masks must be worn in the funeral home.
