Obituary: Shirley Joe Rinehart

Shirley Joe Rinehart, 85, of Petroleum, WV departed this life Saturday, January 9, 2021 at his residence.

Shirley was born March 19, 1935 in Cairo, WV, a son of the late Homer and Vivian (Conaway) Rinehart. He graduated from Cairo High School in 1952. He was a United States Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict. Shirley retired from working as a truck driver and backhoe operator for Carnegie Gas Company after 23 years. He was a member of the Goose Creek Baptist Church and was a lifetime farmer.

Shirley is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Elder) Rinehart; children, Billy Joe Rinehart of Goose Creek, WV, Don Rinehart of Glendale, WV, and Terry Haddox (Tom) of Petroleum, WV; grandchildren, Thomas Rinehart, AJ Rinehart, Mike Rinehart, Tyler Keith, and Chelsea (Keith) Reader; great grandchildren, Ethan, Kolton, Hunter, Hailey, Adaline, and Jensen.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, James “Jim” Rinehart, and sister, Alice Doss.

Graveside services will be held 1pm on Monday, January 11, 2021 at the Terry Cemetery in Glendale, WV, with Pastor Roger Johnson officiating. McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home in Pennsboro, WV has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
