PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Wood County Sheriff Steve Stephens says that Michael Webb, 29, of Newcomerstown Ohio has been charged with felony fleeing with reckless indifference after leading authorities on a chase on Sunday afternoon.

Chief Deputy Rob Sims says the pursuit began on Power Avenue and Hill Street after reports of a suspicious vehicle. The 911 caller told dispatchers that the man in the car seemed to be going in and out of consciousness and was starting and turning off his car for an hour.

Stephens added that Webb fled from deputies for about seven minutes until he crashed his car around 7th and Jeanette streets in Parkersburg. According to Stephens, Webb got out of the car and ran from deputies. Eventually, K9 Drago assisted in apprehending Webb.

Michael Webb is in the North Central Regional Jail after being arraigned Sunday night in Wood County Magistrate court.


An investigation into an incident on Hill Street resulted in a police chase Sunday afternoon.

The pursuit lasted about seven minutes, according to Wood County Dispatch. The suspect is now in custody.

An arraignment is scheduled for 10 p.m. Sunday night.
