Washington State Community College nursing program ranked in top 50 in U.S.
MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - The nursing program at Washington State Community College has gained national recognition as one of the best in the country.
The program is ranked 46th out of more than 1,000 U.S. schools. It’s a list that includes both community colleges and four-year schools.
School leaders said the program, which is also ranked No. 1 in Ohio, has taken many steps since 1992 to make sure students are prepared for their chosen career. During the pandemic, many students in the program have helped out in the community.
“They are not receiving credit hours or clinical time for that. That is all on a volunteer basis and it’s all on a volunteer basis from our nursing faculty group that are taking them to administer COVID vaccines. It’s an extraordinary effort all around. And we have a very dedicated faculty and student group that is willing to do that really for the greater good.”
The program has a passing rate of about 97 percent, which it has maintained for the past five years.
