Obituary: Viola Mae (Newlon) Bunner

Viola Mae (Newlon) Bunner, 94, of Howard, OH, formerly from Pennsboro, WV, departed this life Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Knox Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon, OH.

Viola was born August 8, 1926 in Lawford, WV, a daughter of the late Walter and Ola Chloe (Davis) Newlon.

Viola was a former member of the Pennsboro Apostolic Church. She enjoyed quilting but her favorite hobby was crocheting, she would make doilies, blankets, etc.  She loved taking care of babies, and her little dog, Tiny.

Viola is survived by her sons, Terry Bunner (Jan) of Pitkin, LA and Donnie Bunner (Mary Ann) of Howard, OH; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Cletha Bartlett (Gerald) of Spruce Creek, WV; brothers, O’neil “Smokey” Newlon (Patty) of Belpre, OH and Don Newlon (Irene) of Pike, WV.

In addition to her parents, Viola is preceded in death by her loving husband, William H. Bunner; son, Larry Paul Hawkins; and siblings, Clareth Haddox, Violet Cowan, Walter “Roy” Newlon, Denzel Newlon, and Robert “Bob” Newlon.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at McCullough Rogers Funeral Home in Pennsboro, WV, with Pastor David Simons officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairmont Ridge Cemetery in Ellenboro, WV. Visitation will take place from 10am-2pm, Saturday before the service. In accordance with the CDC masks/face coverings must be worn inside the funeral home.
