Parkersburg Art Center bringing back “Art on the Island”
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - The Parkersburg Art Center will be hosting a series of themed painting classes on Blennerhassett Island this spring and summer.
The first “Art on the Island” event of the year will be May 2nd.
Five others classes are planned during May, June and July.
Anyone is welcome to take a boat ride to Blennerhassett Island state park and participate in the classes.
Officials say they’re excited about having more in-person activities on the island this year.
“It’s been great having people back again. The art center begun to open up again and we follow the state mandates and we follow the social distancing and masking guidelines indoors. But then it’s nice to be able to take it some place as nice and beautiful as Blennerhassett Island. And the island and what they have to offer has influenced what we do in terms of our classes. So a lot of them are focused on the natural environment or the Blennerhassett mansion itself,” says Parkersburg Art Center managing director, Jessie Siefert.
Seating for the classes will be limited, and you will still need to follow social-distancing guidelines.
