Town & Country names Marietta one of the “Top 40 American Towns You Haven’t Heard of But Should”
MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - Town & Country Magazine has named Marietta number 14 on its new list of “40 American Towns You Haven’t Heard of But Should”.
“Marietta is a quaint, great small town and us making the list...isn’t surprising. It just shows what we know already, that it’s a town people need to come visit,” said Shannon Folts, visitor experience director with the Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
While the magazine did not list the criteria it used with making the list,Folts feels that a number of factors could have contributed, such as the architecture and walkability of the city’s downtown.
“We have so much to offer such as historic homes...to a very walkable downtown with over 50 local shops and restaurants. And those are just some of the things that make our town desirable and make people want to come here. They’re things you can’t always find in everyday small towns any more,” she said.
Additionally, Folts noted that Marietta has made a number of similar lists from various publications in the past.
“We make a lot of lists, and I think it just goes to show how we do a great job of upkeep in the town, how we do a great job of welcoming visitors to the town, and that we have a variety of things to offer to people once they’re here. They can spend two or three days here and not run out of things to do at all,” Folts said.
