Obituary: Wayne Lindsay Carpenter

Wayne Lindsay Carpenter, age 62, passed at his residence in Parkersburg, WV on Friday, April 23, 2021.

Wayne was born at Sculthorpe Air Force Base, England, to Lindsay Allen and Kathleen Woodall Carpenter on March 24, 1959.  He became a resident of Webster Springs, WV in 1974, and graduated from Webster County High School in 1977.  He worked at Rush Auto until he enlisted in the Army from   1982-1984.  He was employed at Bemis Coal Company, Peaker Run Coal Company, Cherokee Coal Company and White Chevrolet.  In 1994 he moved to Parkersburg, WV and was employed by Matheny Motors until 2016.

Wayne was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener.  He loved his children and his grandchildren deeply and was extremely proud of all of them. He loved being a grandpa.

Wayne is survived by his mother, Kathleen, of Huntington, WV; his five children, Joseph Carpenter, Ashley (Jeremiah) Rutter, Olivia Carpenter and Sean Carpenter, of Parkersburg, WV, Kevin Williams of Dunbar, WV; four grandchildren, Piper and Payton Rutter, Kinleigh and Gage Williams; brothers Gary (Beckie) Carpenter and Craig (Sherii) Carpenter of Huntington, WV; sisters Kathryn (Jeff) Miller of Bridgeport, WV; Glenda (Paul) Tracy of Columbus, Ohio and Yvonne (Jaime) Perez of Kyle, TX, 32 nieces and nephews and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lindsay, and one sister, Joanne Carpenter.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at South Parkersburg Baptist Church, Division Street, Parkersburg, WV with visitation with family from 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made toward the cost of funeral expenses.  A GoFundMe account will be set up in his name.
