Former Mountaineer pitcher rumored to make Major League start

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - A former Mountaineer ace may take the mound in the Majors for the first time tomorrow night.

A reporter for the Toronto Bly Jays says that the team is expecting to call up right hander Alek Manoah to make his Major League debut against the New York Yankees. This for the Jay’s Triple-A affiliate, Manoah is 3-0” with a 0.50 ERA. He’s struck out 27 batters during 18 innings of work while only allowing 3 walks.

The former WVU player was drafted by the Blue Jays as the 11th overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft.

First pitch on Wednesday night is scheduled to happen just after 7 P.M. in the Bronx.
