PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) -The Wood County Board of Education meets Tuesday night. The board says it has two assistant superintendents and one position is being redefined. Because of the new title, it must be posted. The board says it will post the new job on its website soon.

The superintendent says this will be the first part of a restructuring in Curriculum and Instruction Department positions. The board is reducing personnel in the central office. They say because student population is decreasing and as a result, they cannot afford to add long-term central office positions. Also at the meeting, the board says it will file with the courts about what to do with Waverly Elementary School.

The board says it has run into some hurdles selling the property, and the courts will tell them what process to follow to sell or divest it. Also, the School Service Personnel of the Year for 2020 and 2021 were announced.

Sean Stutler and Diedra Burdette are custodians.

Congratulations to them.
