MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - Through its student ministry, Elevate, Pathway Community Church is hosting a “Thrift Store Prom” on Saturday, June 5 at 6 P.M.

The event is for students in grades six through eight, and will feature music, dancing, snacks, photo opportunities, and more.

In addition, students are asked to wear hand-me-down formal wear previously owned by family members and others. Vintage fashion, like suspenders and dresses with puffed sleeves, are encouraged.

“We’ve seen people in other states doing the same thing and we wanted to bring it to the Mid-Ohio Valley,” said Shelli Brown, Elevate’s youth leader. “I think it’ll be a great time for the youth to get together and have some good, clean fun. It’ll give them the opportunity to hang out outside of school, since not all these kids go to school together,” she added.

The event is free and open to the public and no RSVP is necessary.

Those with questions are asked to contact Brown at (304) 966-0195 or
