UPDATE: Man escapes house fire in Parkersburg safely

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) -A house is damaged after a fire Wednesday morning on the corner 13th and Ramsey Street. The Parkersburg Fire Chief says a man was inside sleeping, but he made it out safely.

The fire chief says the man was sleeping on the first floor when they got there around 3 a.m. The fire started on the second floor. The utilities in the house are turned off, and no one was living there.

The fire chief says they are investigating if it was arson, and they are trying to talk to the man they found that night inside the house to get more information.

It took firefighters about 10 minutes to put the fire out.


A house caught fire early Wednesday morning on the corner of 13th and Ramsey Streets in Parkersburg.

The Wood County 911 Center believes that the house was unoccupied, and no injuries were reported at the scene.

Dispatch said the call for the fire first came in at 3:06 a.m., and that the Parkersburg Fire and Police Departments responded to the scene, as did St. Joseph and Camden Clark’s ambulance services.
