Wood County Society holds Camp ECHO
RIPLEY, W.Va. (WTAP) - The Wood County Society is holding its annual Camp ECHO this week at the Cedar Lakes Conference Center in Ripley. The event began on June 6 and will go through June 10.
The program is intended for youth and adults with disabilities. It includes art in the form of therapy, equine therapy, experiential and learning activities, life skills experiences, and more.
Last year’s camp was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and participants were eager to return in person this year.
ECHO stands for “Every Client Has Opportunity”. The program was started in the 1970s as a respite program for youth and young adults.
Some of this year’s events have included making Broadway-inspired art facilitated by Artbeats Studio, the event’s first annual “Color Run”, equine therapy, yoga, and more.
Additional information about the event can be found by following the Wood County’s Facebook page.
