PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Cub scouts will get a chance at camp on tomorrow and Saturday and have some fun.

The day camp will be taking place at Camp Kootaga for cub scouts entering first through fifth grade the following school year.

Tag-a-longs will also be included and will be accompanied by an “adult partner” during participation.

This year’s camp will be themed around the 80′s classic “Weird Science.”

Scouts will be performing science experiments, enjoy shooting sports and play games amongst other activities.

All of this will go with their usual camp goal of having fun.

“It builds life skills. Things that will help them from the point that they’re at all the way through adulthood. There’s going to be a lot of activities that they don’t realize they’re learning stuff, but they’re having a good time. And some day, they’ll look back and go ‘Oh wow, I didn’t realize I learned all these cool things,’” says Boy Scouts of America district director, Michael Cidor.

To go with COVID-19 regulations masks will be required for all indoor and outdoor activities.

Day camp will operate daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m. Attendees are to bring ta bag lunch each day. Overnight camping is available on Friday night at a rate of $15 per campsite. If camping overnight, please plan to bring evening meal for Friday night and Saturday breakfast, as well for those in your overnight group. To reserve a campsite, call the Parkersburg Scout Shop at 304-422-4507.

Registration will $30 for cub scouts and tag-a-longs and $10 for leaders, parents, staff, and scout volunteers.
