Josiah Bellar indicted in sexual abuse case
ATHENS, Ohio (WTAP) - The fourth member of the Bellar family is arraigned in a sexual abuse case. Josiah Bellar is charged with rape and gross sexual imposition.
The charges came during an investigation into the disappearance and reappearance of his sister, Serah Bellar. She made claims of sexual abuse by members of her family.
The allegations against Josiah Bellar involve two children. He is in the Warren Correctional Institution serving a sentence for robbery and other charges.
He will have a jury trial on September 9, 2021.
His parents, Robert and Deborah Bellar, are also charged in this case with endangering children and other charges. They are in jail.
Josiah Bellar’s brother, Jonathan, is charged with gross sexual imposition.
An Athens County Sheriff’s Office Deputy named Jimmy Childs is charged with tampering with evidence and obstructing justice.
He is on paid administrative leave from the sheriff’s office.
